Dear web publishers,
when I can't reject all tracking within five seconds, I just won't read your article. Goodbye.

i have to praise the _insanely good_ "LISP From Nothing" book from @AverageDog once more. apart from the fact that on every page i think "i could never think or code that", it is packed with cool info. For example, when you compile scheme to C and you want to have, an instruction pointer of sorts to jump to your functions, how do you do it in a language that doesn't support computed goto without accumulating function calls?

for(k=0;;) switch (k) {
case 0:
k=apply(...); break;
case ...
}

Thanks to my friends and family for a wonderful 80th birthday!

Well, I have now been quoted calling SpaceX "fuckweasels" in a real publication by real journalists: https://au.pcmag.com/ai/116598/spacex-to-start-small-with-1-million-satellite-plan-pushes-back-on-critics

I guess I am proud of myself? (They are, indeed, fuckweasels, for their complete lack of care for the atmosphere that we all depend on, as well as not caring about Kessler Syndrome, or light pollution, or smashing people on the ground...)

SpaceX To Start Small With 1 Million Satellite Plan, Pushes Back On Critics

The company's rebuttal to the FCC mentions launching orbital data center constellation in phases, and studying potential atmospheric impacts. SpaceX also threw plenty of shade at Amazon.

Can we please fast-forward to a post-AI, post-billionaires, post-surveillance, post-war age?
I have recently been told that a previous employer had found me to be complicated, difficult, and hard to work with. What a pleasant surprise! Being considered a good fit for the corporate world would really have saddened my heart.

Thank you for your dedicated work!

I have translated (with some liberties) my 1987 short novel Star Tramp. It features a simple-minded, action-packed plot and a pretty unlikable main character. Most people who read it did not enjoy it (but some did).
I may or may not (re)publish it this year.

Imagine if no one treated life as a zero-sum game and only agreed to play in co-op mode?

In any other game, if you found out it was rigged after playing your hardest for years, and folx were like "that's just how it is, and the price of losing can include dying in a gutter from sheer indifference", you'd probably flip the fucking table.
