@morrick iPadOS 17.7.8 now installed, working as expected! 🎉 No more instant reset on every app launch and ”frozen” background apps.

@morrick This happened to me: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/256059474?sortBy=rank

Don’t update any older iPad to iPadOS 17.7.7, if you’re offered the update.

Refreshing to hear the word ”innovation” in a sentence not talking about training LLMs to generate hallucinations. Sounds like a nice initiative!

@morrick Is this the first sign of AI taking over tasks better suited for the human mind? Maybe:

Some guy tried to apply for a job but it didn’t lead anywhere. He tried to get help from an AI service and boom, it worked.

Sequoia and iPadOS 18 have both been disasters for me. I made a fresh reset (clean install of macOS) and while performance went up, it keeps crashing Safari because of CoreSpotlight issues which Apple refuses to fix, despite my multiple crash reports and manual Feedback App report. Hopeless 🤦🏼. This is why I am keeping the iPad Pro (iPadOS 18) as is, not resetting it. I will continue updating it until it gets better or breaks completely to the point where I need to fix it with urgency.

I love this piece at the end (this is not the full quote):

”The thing that Apple used to be so good at understanding is that the bottom line isn’t just about how the numbers add up. Apple has long been a company that prides itself on its image and its brand”.
Yes, this is why I bought my Macbook in 2006. This is why I kept being loyal to the brand, being thrilled about new versions of macOS always getting UI polishes and performance enhancements, etc. What happened? It’s sad.

Smart Google Home? More like Stupid. Not that Google needs to support it with a cloud service forever, but ways to connect it to open source alternatives would make it so much more reliable long-term.

I had not given this option much thought myself. I mean, I don’t speak ”native English”, it’s not my primary language. This means that I will either keep regular Swedish subtitles (non-CC) switched on or switch them off completely for almost everything I watch, depending on the siguation. In terms of Japanese anime, I either go with Swedish or English subtitles, often English ones. Swedish TV and films are never dubbed, except for kids & family-oriented stuff.
