@cstross Yo, I'm reading through Accelerando since the first time in almost a decade, feels like. Every page baffles me with how pinpoint accurate you were about our current future... I have a question about storyline : at the beginning Manfred meets Annette again, 5 years after his marriage. She says "It's been 3 years since Amsterdam" and it got me very puzzled, did I miss something or was it just a mistake that slipped past editing? (love your work, always!!! I'm a huge fan)

I'm finally releasing a public demo for retro FPS that I've been working on for the past several years on September 28th!

The Last Exterminator on Steam

You're an exterminator. You kill things for a living. When a hostile invasion of alien cockroaches rocks your city, you've got a job to do. A high-octane retro-FPS inspired by some of the best games of the 90s.

#TIL When in doubt about #POSIX compliance of a command, just use #Perl FTW.

Example: Asking `date` to produce nanoseconds doesn't work on #MacOS w/o #GNU coreutils installed.

So I simply switched to `perl -MTime::HiRes` and, well, problem was solved!

Most text editors have a linear undo history. If you undo something and then make a change, the previous state is lost. Not so with Vim -- here's a guide to chronological undo/redo that could save you some retyping: https://countvajhula.com/2023/08/08/vim-tip-of-the-day-time-travel/
