Programming textbook humor. A real knee slapper! I'm dying already!

My RGO One rig and homebrew battery pack an hour ago at Lambert's Bay, South Africa, grid square JF97dv65.

Me lashing my Spiderpole to the upper deck railing for a three-night stay in Lambert's Bay, South Africa. Operating here as ZS1KYD.

The antenna itself is 7-strand copper, deep sea fishing line strung from out of a casting reel. Tuned for all bands via an LGD RT-100.

As a kid, who else had the Matchbox Coca-Cola deivery truck complete with tiny crates of even tinier green bottles?

Photo taken just now (2025-02-17) in Simon's Town, South Africa.

Wifey demonstrating the perfect automotive accessory: a Diamond HF17CL antenna.

First station worked was Oleg, ZS7ANF in Queen Maud land, Antarctica! No ravening pile-up. I just spun the dial and there he was.

New QTH in Simon's Town, one street down-slope and a short jog further north. Now with a deck from which to erect the Spiderbeam mast.

Keys are a Begali Simplex for Iambic at 20 wpm plus, a BaMaKey TP-ii for abusing as a cootie below 20 wpm. No mic at all.

Band openings occur at around 1600 UTC.

See my QRZ page for ZS1KYD.

We're back in South Africa, again escaping the deep snow and ice currently at our Michigan USA home. This time operating as ZS1KYD, and as always, CW only.

First of several QTHs is Solent Court, in Simon's Town. See my meager random inverted V suspended from the NNW-facing 4th floor window. Even so, I managed a 16-minute QSO last night on 20m via the Long Path to California.

Come Wednesday we'll move one street down-slope to where I can erect the Spiderbeam mast.

My very own QSL card now also on display behind the glass among several historic ones in this bistro's very eclectic window display on Queen's Road in Simon's Town.

Operating as ZS1/KY8D, portable with battery and kite-hoisted inverted L antenna. QTH is Scarborough Beach, South Africa (between Cape Town and the Cape of Good Hope)

Rig is an RGO One at 50W on battery power. Paddles worked cootie fashion.
