Is it just me or is Ubuntu 24.04 a bit flaky when it comes to Nvidia drivers? Twice in the last year I have lost the ability to use my second monitor with my GT1030 card, apparently because Ubuntu has stopped using the Nvidia driver. Updating to use Nvidia drivers again solves the problem. Any ideas on how I can stop this happening?

Another lesson learned from re-installing Ubuntu 24.04. I set the settings to "High Contrast". I opened an existing spreadsheet in LibreOffice Calc which had background shading. Eek! All the background shading had vanished. Recovered a second copy of the spreadsheet from my backup - same issue! Qwanted the internet and found the answer in a query about a similar problem with LibreOffice Calc on Windows. The "High Contrast" setting was the culprit. Turn it off, all fine.

Eventually I found a simple answer that worked - "$ sudo apt-get update" and then "$ sudo apt-get install printer-driver-escpr". My printer then appeared in the list of printers and selecting it loaded the right driver. So simple when you know how, so frustrating when you don't. I have made a careful note for next time.

Perhaps everyone who needs to know this already does, but just in case ...

When I had to re-install Ubuntu 24.04 I had printer problems. The Epson inkjet printer worked, but the colours were misaligned by about 1cm - a driver issue. Text appeared twice, once in red and once in black. Searching found many quite complicated solutions. The drivers on the Epson site didn't download properly for me.

My thanks to those who boosted and those who replied - I am very grateful to for your support. In the end I decided to reinstall Ubuntu - it is a pain but at least it was almost certainly going to solve the problem. The problem is now sorted and all (?) I have to do is get the set up back to how I want it and get my peripherals working again.

Can any Linux experts here help please? My Ubuntu 24.04 system no longer detects my ethernet connection, after having worked happily for months.
The physical ethernet connection itself is fine - my system is dual boot with two M2 drives, one with Ubuntu and the other with Windows 11. Windows detects the ethernet and works normally, but Ubuntu has suddenly stopped finding it.

Any ideas? Please boost to the right places.
