I was reading summaries of random TV shows on Wikipedia last night, one of which was the Fallout show, and I subsequently had a dream about a Fallout-style post-nuclear-apocalypse thing. There were these two men, one of whom was a "ghoul" who'd been mutated by radiation, but I don't know what Fallout ghouls look like so dreaming-me was just visualizing this, like, Wade Wilson or Freddy Krueger looking dude. (Looking up how Walton Goggins actually looks in the show, I wasn't far off I guess.) Plot twist: the ghoul was planning on mercy-killing anyone who had any contact with radioactivity, including his partner!
As part of their journey, they went to an old church; there, they found a bunch of unidentifiably charred adult-sized corpses, lying on the ground or sitting in chairs or whatever, along with some grenades. The human partner immediately identiied them as kids(?) he'd been caring for; the church had been his home where he'd been taking care of them, or something. The grenades were set up so that they'd all blow up simultaneously, destroying the entire church somehow, as a safety measure. He was now going to try to defend himself from the ghoul, who was trying to kill him by shooting one of the grenades. There was supposedly an elaborate explanation for why he set up the grenades in the first place, but at that point, the dream stalled until I woke up.
