I have no words to describe the horror and sadness I feel about what is happening in Israel and Gaza right now. I keep going back to a song that Damian Kulash wrote after the Bataclan attacks. It seems relevant to me know, as I see the images of the Nova festival. Group celebrations of music have been such a big part of my life, and the juxtoposition of such horror in places that, moments before, were joyful is harrowing. (Again, I can't find the words.) So music:

Bataclan

This is my prayer for peace. The attack at the Bataclan brought violence and terror much closer to home for me — it's a setting and scene I know so intimately, a place where people gather to share joy

When I received an invitation to give a keynote address at #StrangeLoop #StrangeLoop2023 gathering, I was both giddy and terrified. What could I possibly say that would be relevant for 1,500+ programmers and developers? I fretted over this talk for months, and ended up giving one of the most personal talks I’ve ever given on a large stage. The talk is now online, and I invite you to watch “Playing With Engineering.” https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ao8GS488hA

AnnMarie Thomas on play and engineering #strangeloop2023
Thank you #strangeloop for an amazing two days. It was full of so many exciting ideas and interesting people.
I have never spoken in a theater as beautiful as the Stifel. Wow! Thank you #StrangeLoop #StrangeLoop2023 for the opportunity to present to such an amazing audience.
Also… when I defer to which days I’m flying, I now need to be unambiguous about “plane” versus “trapeze.”
I think I just achieved a work milestone that is the one my 6 year old self would consider the pinnacle of personal achievement. I am trying to coordinate my schedule so that visits to LEGO headquarters in Denmark don’t conflict with performance rehearsals for the flying trapeze team I just joined. Seriously… this is living my childhood dreams.
I'm headed to St. Louis to attend the #StrangeLoop2023 conference. Who else is going to be there? Would love to meet new folks and hear what you're interested in!
