From Peel's Act of 1843 the parish of Salterhebble, Skircoat Green & Copley was created from Halifax Parish & John Henry Warneford was planted as vicar & worshipped from temporary rooms. With the support of local people & business people such as the Holdsworth's of Shaw Fold Mill land was purchased for a Day School (1854) & Church (1858). The Church was gothic in style & extended in 1874. /1

BBC NewsTonight researching 2 sisters age 16 & 15 in 1898 who ran away from Leeds to Halifax 3 weeks previously. They were sentenced to 1 calendar month in HMP Wakefield for stealing 2 straw hats, 3 capes & 1 necktie from the cloak room of a school in Halifax. They were 4 feet 11 & 10 inches tall. In a newspaper report their mother said they were unmanageable, whilst at home they seemed to think they could do as they please & expected others to stay up until all hours of the night until they came home
The magnificent backdrop of Halifax train station opened in 1855 replaced the original station built in 1844 which was 200 metres further west of this location. It was designed by Thomas Butterworth & is in ashlar stone. It is grade 2 listed & now houses the nursery of the Eureka Museum. The on platform view of the station is a great disappointment compared with this view
