I write, mostly fiction. Book, movie, Bernie, food, wine, forest enthusiast. I live in Oregon, long for travel.
Currently trying to be more upbeat. Or at least less morose.

When I get stuck on writing this novel, I just let myself go for a while, I mess about, I say anything I want. And it's so much better than the thing I'm calling a novel.
Today is Pearl Harbor Day in the U.S., a “day that will live in infamy” for the unprovoked attack by the Empire of Japan upon U.S. forces stationed in Hawaii. But it also marked a dark turning point for Japanese Americans, who overnight became the “enemy.” (1/4)
@AlisonClement they think they would win this way to get into your head but red wave my butt. Sorry but your uncle is fos.
So. This one time. I got my days wrong and ended up alone in a room with my boss and the President of Ireland while I was on ketamine.
I feel like someone who's arrived at a party early and doesn't know anyone, although maybe some of her friends are in other rooms somewhere.

The fact Mastodon encourages people to *boost* posts, rather than retweet them, is significant. It's no longer about hammering people with an argument - look at how many other people agree with me, over and over and over - it's about promoting, supporting, validating, rewarding people for saying interesting and worthwhile things.

That is a *huge* difference.

I find myself in the same position I was in during the early days of the birdsite, wondering what to post. Don’t want to be political or polemical in these early days, but mustn’t be too bland either. Not going to show you the scones I baked, share my latte art or describe my sourdough starter. Nor should I plug my current productions just yet. Easy enough to know what we don’t want Mastodon to be …

… anyway, that’s my current thinking

My GOP Texas uncle sent me a nasty joke about #Fetterman and at first I didn't get it. Do people really mock medical conditions? It's meant to be funny! he told me. Uncle has a beloved autistic grandchild. I thought that would make him less of an asshole.
