Articles like this are frightening because history has already shown us the terrible places this path can lead. But none of this is fated. We don't have to let go of the wheel.

Opinion | A Chill Has Fallen Over Jews in Publishing

A litmus test has emerged across wide swaths of the literary world, effectively excluding Jews from full participation unless they denounce Israel.

I just got accepted into #Granta's "Writing Literary Short Fiction" Workshop taught by Eley Williams, which I'm excited about. Does anyone here have experience with Granta's workshops? Would you mind sharing the experience?
Our adventures in having a passover seder in Spain have yielded some great moments. No matzo, but our Colombian asistente understood the assignment and made unleavened arepas (BRILLIANT). Sephardic haroset beats ashkenazi haroset by a mile. And this is the year our kids held us to 4 entire cups of grapes juice so things got pretty crazy. (They also negociated like sharks once they found the afikomen). All in all? BEST SEDER EVER
@grayson the perfect time to go. Kids have school off for carnival and the city isn't glutted with tourists.
Bucket list moment yesterday
@grayson specifically heist films!
@grayson there's never enough Melville... those films are great. As it's his main interest, I'm sure @mplsmatt could make some great heist film recs if you ever wanted one.
@grayson I thought I knew that about you. I've never seen the Expendables movies but I'm sure I've seen equally trashy horror films (and loved them!).
@grayson it sounds like you really need to dumb it down lol don't you love mindless action movies? Plus as much as I love reading reviews there's no substitution for being directly transported.
@grayson well there's reading for work (Goethe, in my case) and reading for health (currently a *very* guilty pleasure for me with Flashman in the Great Game). You have to find balance. A good bathtub helps! 😂
