I have a friend in southern Sweden (Blekinge county) who finds themselves in a bind; they have a growing disability, due to an injury, that results in them having increasing trouble taking care of themselves. Their child, a young adult, will eventually want to move out, leaving them without help.

Their insurance apparently refuses to cover them due to a pre-existing condition, which is apparently a thing in Sweden?

I am too far away to be of useful, local assistance, especially since I don't speak the language.

Does anyone local or familiar know what their options are for healthcare, assistance, maybe legal aid?

Boosts welcome 🙏🏻

Cops are sort of the embodiment of flanderized American masculinity. They're ultra hard core professional badasses with military grade hardware, but they won't confront an active shooter while kids are being killed and piss themselves over being bonked on the head by an empty plastic container. The worse they are at their jobs, the more money they get. Cities will literally give them millions in overtime pay to prevent $10k in lost subway fares. They are the most coddled people on earth.

This tragedy hasn’t gotten the attention it deserves.

Frank Tyson, a 51 year old Black man, is dead after police tackled him and pinned him with a knee on his back. He gasped “I can’t breathe” 7 times & cops told him to “Shut the f**k up, you’re fine.”

Bodycam video shows handcuffed man telling Ohio officers 'I can't breathe' before his death

The Canton Police Department in Ohio has released body camera video from the night a 53-year-old man died after he repeatedly told officers “I can’t breathe” as he was handcuffed with his hands behind his back and he was pinned to the ground.

NBC News

Over the last six months Russia has killed 143 Ukrainian journalists, refuses to allow access to western journalists, & claims it investigated itself of any alleged wrongdoing & concluded that it followed international law in every instance—so we should trust them.

Sound ridiculous?

Because it is, and guess what, this isn’t Russia—it’s exactly what Israel has done.

The difference is we are helping defend against Russia but helping arm & enable Israel.

Where is the accountability?

Isn't it interesting that every killing by every cop is just a single bad apple that should never be thought to spoil the bunch, while every protest by and on behalf of marginalized people must be flawlessly perfect, or all participants deserve the brutality the police exist to deliver to them?
My advice:
- be kind
- commit mundane crimes
- read banned books
- learn dark magic, just a little
- become moss, if you are able
- return your atoms to the stars, when you are ready

the upside of having ADHD is that I can complete a month's worth of work for a whole team in the space of a weekend and a couple of evenings.

the downside of having ADHD is that I keep putting myself in situations where I need to complete a month's worth of work for a whole team in the space of a weekend and a couple of evenings.
