I was exploring Quadra Island's Rebecca Spit at sunrise a couple years ago and was photographing woodpeckers when two black tailed deer walked out of the forest only a few feet away. This photo was taken as the deer noticed me.

Tomorrow marks my final shift as a student nurse.

The last four years have been some of the most challenging of my life, however I've also had so many incredible opportunities both in and out of the hospital and have gotten to meet and work alongside some amazing people.

The Colombian black-tailed deer is the only species of deer found on Vancouver Island and are often found in and around urban areas. This particular deer was photographed near a busy road in Campbell River.
