TechlorePrivacy isn't suspicious. It's a human right.
@hen I would argue that they will never use Mastodon because it doesn’t allow them the control they want. What they mean by “uncensorable” is they really want to censor anyone they disagree with. Just look at what X turned into. They’re just hypocrites trying to grift.
Privacy-respecting services have never been better. People just need to switch to them.
Everyone deserves privacy.
@nateb I saw some people suggest that it may have been Meta using AI to moderate instead of their people teams and it messed up big time.

What do they share? The necessity for privacy. Activism challenges authority, and without privacy—you are vulnerable.
After the 2016 election I lost respect for many people I had looked up to for years. My world view shifted after that point…here I am in 2025 experiencing that same feeling. I guess it just comes with age. 30’s here I come.
The feeling of dread I felt on Election night has returned. It’s like waiting for a bomb to go off, but you don’t know exactly when it’s going to.

This is not a win for privacy, this is a massive loss for all Americans as the country descends into the internet censorship that has plagued so many of the other unfree countries around the world.
It isn't the time to act smug or superior just because that censorship happened to target an app you disliked today. They will have no problems coming for the services you do like tomorrow.
