A tired nerd.

The GOP is literally proposing we pay a tax just to file our taxes.
For a party that constantly rails against taxes, they’re getting pretty creative at squeezing more money from Americans without having to call it a tax.

'I don't care about Direct File': IRS chief says agency plans to end free filing program

Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Bill Long said the agency will end its Direct File program.

@QasimRashid The system isn’t broken, it’s working as designed to sustain the status quo: funnel resources into control mechanisms while starving the institutions that empower people to think critically, stay healthy, and demand better.

If we wanted a flourishing, educated, and well-cared-for society, we’d fund it. The money is clearly there, it’s just allocated to protect power vs people.

ICE is offering a $132K to $185K per year for supervisory roles & $306K per year to concentration camp managers. Both jobs have ZERO education requirement.

Meanwhile the average starting salary is $46,526 for teachers and $68,485 for nurses. Both jobs require a Bachelors degree & often a graduate degree.

It's a lie that we can't pay teachers & nurses. An uneducated and sick populace is easier to control, creates higher crime rates, and feeds the prison industrial complex. This is by design.

Trump isn’t an accident, he’s the inevitable product of #capitalism. When a society prioritizes wealth, growth, and spectacle over community and sustainability, he was bound to emerge. He mastered attention and outrage as forms of currency, where dominating the narrative is more valuable than leading with integrity.
Without fundamental changes to how we distribute power and define “success”, we’ll keep creating more people like him or worse.

@sumisu3 Nice starter! What are you making? For what it’s worth, making starters made a big difference, especially with some of my stronger and lagers beers.
@paulywill Nice setup! What yeast are you using for your Kölsch? Last Kölsch I made I used Cal Ale and fermented cold and long but it only turned out OK. Next time I want to try an actual Kölsch yeast.
@tjcasser Something about brewing your own beer is magical. Keep on brewing. Cheers!

These Samuel Smiths beers are underrated. Excellent beer IMHO. Cheers!
Picked up a few from my favorite bottle shop. Exited for the 15% Crow & Wolf Eye of the Familiar! Anyone try any of these?
Just cracked open the 2020 Old Stock. Poured really well for being from 2020. This is a fantastic beer! Not too sweet or dry, strong caramel and toffee with a light and pleasant copper taste. #beer
