Submit your pitch by June 8.

What unique perspective from your community are you most excited to see featured in this anthology?

When communities lead their own connectivity and digital solutions, they go far beyond closing the access gap – building capacities, creating employment, strengthening culture, and protecting their territories.

The new edition of the Community Networks Newsletter brings together stories of this impact, together with gender focused initiatives, enabling policies in progress, publications, funding sources and events.

REMINDER: The upcoming Tech Together webinar, taking place on May 27 at 14:00 UTC, will host the launch of “Community Interest Media” and feature a discussion with practitioners from the Global South (and friends), who will share the experiences they documented for the publication.

The webinar will explore how community-led media initiatives are shaping more inclusive and participatory communication ecosystems.

Register in the link 👉 https://apc-org.zoom.us/meeting/register/T8122q1bTbOMKfw__GdB7w#/ and be part of the discussion.

The challenge we face is about who controls digital infrastructure and services, whose interests it serves, and whether communities have meaningful power and agency over the tech they use.
Meet some of the organisations in the APC network who have built community-centred and rights-respecting alternatives rooted in social and environmental justice alongside collective care, sharing a vision of a digital future where infrastructure is seen as a commons.

Many women who once believed technology was too difficult for them discovered they could learn digital tools – and use them to grow their income.

A Digital Micro-Enterprise Training developed in three communities in Nigeria provided a safe, encouraging space for women to ask questions, practice new skills, and share their business experiences.
