Used to have an active Mastodon account for a while on some indie server years ago, but it vanished without warning and I never picked it back up.

#ElectronicComponent of the day: bimetallic thermostat (the brass-colored disc).
The thin edge snaps up upon reaching a certain temp (likely 80C according to the number on it), raising the white pin aka "plunger" in the center of the bottom photo & disconnecting the circuit.
The copper sliver noticeable above the pin is called the bridge & in this config is considered a "normally closed" switch.
Common element in electric kettles.
Incidentally I looked at the scam email src & saw 100s of lines in the base64 versions of the email that looked like the attached images.
In the email display (which is the text of the Github clone issues) it literally just looks like a line break space right before the tagged usernames.
Decoded from b64 it doesn't seem to mean anything in particular, not that I know about at least.
