I was forwarded today an Instagram article from Quarks.de, a page I don't know that's apparently part of #ARD1.
The article claims to cite "Wohlleber et al. 2020: The double standard of aging for men and women" but, as far as I know, this article does not exist (or at least not with these authors).
I believe they asked some AI for a source, the AI made one up and now, as expected, the first search result for this source is the Instagram post itself. Am I wrong?

Babe, wake up. New man-made horrors beyond comprehension dropped.
Today a bot decided I am not allowed to buy food. Specifically: I'm waiting for a package that may or may not arrive (thanks DPD) so I can't leave the house, but the only delivery in town (Lieferando) does not let me order because the Cloudflare verification is failing.
I'm sure there's a joke somewhere about a SV company deciding I'm not human enough to buy food but I'm too hangry to think about it.
@7c0h As a German translator it's always nice to see that should they replace me with AI, they'll at least get trash out of it.
"Do you think we need someone to check our German translation?"
"Nah, I'm sure the AI version is more than fine."
The AI version:
Exactly one year later I learned that escalators did use to have a system for getting you out of the way. The problem is that moving people sideways means that, at some point, one foot will move while the other one stays still and that's disorienting.
I'll keep updating this story as I've been doing it until now: poorly.
PSA: Just because a book promises in its cover to be a "no-nonsense introduction" doesn't mean that the book will actually make sense. For that you need a "yes-sense introduction" and those cost extra.

Another reason to hate #Apple We're seeing more 2018+ MacBook Pro/Air donations — but Apple's T2 chip means even after iCloud sign-out and reset, the firmware stays locked to the original account.

Without donor contact, these machines are useless. :(

I've upcycled ~1,000 older Macs, but T2 era machines will end that. It's controlling, creates e-waste, and will only get worse. #righttorepair matters — Apple couldn't care less.

OpenAI in 2015: "The specific purpose of this corporation is to ensure that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity".

OpenAI in 2026: a developer of a frontier AI model should not be held liable for critical harms caused by the frontier model.

What's a "critical harm", you ask? "The death of serious injury of 100 or more people or at least $1,000M of damages".
