Amazon is laying off several hundred people working on Alexa as a consequence of deprioritizing some initiatives to focus on generative AI.

I've argued that ChatGPT created a reset moment for Alexa and Siri which should encourage them to delete the current code and move to LLMs. It looks like Amazon agrees.

It is sad that big tech is now doing rolling layoffs on a division by division basis. This now seems to be the norm at Google & Amazon.
