A somber warning from Mary Ellen Callahan, the former Assistant Secretary of the DHS Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Office, on the state of biodefence going into major events in the United States.

And, by extension, the biodefence budget.

CISA is also now in charge of detecting a bioterror attack. Half the staff is furloughed and they have an Acting Deputy as head. 🚨🚨🚨🚨

Much of what people don't get about AI (or crypto mining or housing) stems the misconception that The Bank in our monopoly is a fair a neutral player following all the rules.

Using energy and creating scarcity is the point when what The Bank controls is collateralized energy.

Why to people keep calling them the "Epstein Files" if he was just the fixer?

I tell that story because of this excellent piece by @anildash:

He is wonderfully, exactly right. Give folks the space and tools they need to do their work. Give them the information they need to understand what needs doing and why. Then let them get to it.

Today, I'm out of the game, but I've got eyeballs. I still marvel at the amazing things that smart, driven folks are doing.

People love to work hard. If your people don't, it's probably you.

Actually, people love to work hard

The antivaccinationist movement has a history in the 1930s (w/smallpox). Their same arguments began to appear around 1998 when the US began to take the threat of a #smallpox bio-terror attack seriously enough to start building a 300M dose vaccine stockpile.

The movement is not organic; it's not about measles vaccines. And what people do because of mistaken beliefs can absolutely affect everyone.

Smallpox has an R of ~6, a CFR of 30-100%, and effectively no one is immunized.

The flu almost disappeared in 2020 when everyone started wearing masks.

What virus could make COVID end?

Airborne transmission? and something we have a vaccine for, but are naive about?
