I really do hope Musk changes his mind and does the right thing - the employees deserve that. But it'll be fun as hell if he doesn't.

Well... that escalated quickly!
iX and #truenas to the rescue. My #homelab has been maxing out with data, media, and VM's from my course load. Decided to give a NAS a shot, but all I had on hand was a 16 year old HP XW tower server. But it had 4 SATA drive slots, 8gb ram, dual multi-core cpu's, dual NIC's... and most of all it still ran :)
Slapped a 75gb mgmt drive and 3 x 2Tb SATA drives I had laying around and spun up truenas with RAIDz1. Within minutes it chewed up and swallowed my entire hodge-podge of external drives scattered around my workspace. So much faster to access, search, and transfer files from. Just wish I made the change a long
