TGIF everyone :) What are you up to today and for the weekend?
@celes Very glad it's a long weekend here, hoping to be able to curl up with a pot of coffee and a good book... assuming my three month old will let me, which is far from a sure thing 🙂
@caffeinatedgeoff Aw sweet! :) Is he/she your firstborn? Do you guys have paternity leave over there?
@celes He is, yes.
Sadly paternity leave in England is poor, just two weeks.
Lots of people requesting that there be the ability to share parental leave between both parents as they wish, but no joy on that so far.
@caffeinatedgeoff It's the same in Singapore too. I wonder why, but I guess the problem is more that it was traditionally *not* this way, and changing laws is such a convoluted process. How's the weather in England now?

@celes Exactly as you say, traditionally it has been the mother who looks after the child, and the fact that now fathers want to be equally involved, or perhaps it makes more financial sense for them to stay at home whilst she returns to work.
Things are show to change.

Weather here is cold and damp, but that's just a good excuse for a hot drink.
I imagine it's a great deal hotter and more humid where you are.

@caffeinatedgeoff What got you to Mastodon by the way and how did you know about it?
