On my mind is the #Novation circuit.

What’s particularly appealing to me:
* It can be used as a standalone instrument.
* It can serve as a sound module for my Yamaha WX-11 #WindController.
* It can work as a more intuitive MIDI controller than a keyboard.

Feeling like it might be a fairly rational purchase for my #musicking needs. It’s still quite a bit of money for me at the moment, but it sounds somewhat justified as an expense.

Thoughts?

@Enkerli As an alternative to Novation, my choice was to use an MPC. Although built for sampling, it also works as a highly versatile midi sequencer and midi track wrangler, and drum machine. I got an MPC1000 - only available secondhand now. The latest incarnations are dependent on PC connection, but these earlier MPC1000 and 2500 are stand alone. [I gave up trying to use a PC for real time music. Too many fails]]

@Stringbender Interesting. Might check if those are still available secondhand at a reasonable price and without too much hassle. Could be a solution.
Although, the synth part of the Circuit is quite interesting to me, especially when paired with my wind controller. Got a TX81Z sound module, but that's kind of cumbersome to work with.

@Enkerli The MPC1000 was around 300GBP on Ebay a little while ago.
You don't get a synth in it, but you can load samples and play them by midi. Has 2 x 16 ch in + out ports. Myself, I run a couple of synths off it, one older FM and a newer monophonic analog/digital hybrid, and drive a separate drum box by midi sync.
Like the idea of a wind controller on an MPC ....

@Stringbender Hm… More expensive than the Circuit and having a standalone synth is kind of my goal, here. Guess the Novation does fit my needs more than the MPC1000. Could still get iMPC… ;-)
