It's Monday which means #MoodMusicMonday! I pick the mood and you pick a song or songs you think fits the mood!

Today's mood since I'm going to be flying out today is "traveling".

The song or songs can literally be about traveling to a place or traveling in general, traveling through life, or whatever. It can even be meta and be a song where the musician/band traveled to another country to try to break in to a new market, etc. Whatever you want!

Be sure to include the hashtag #MoodMusicMonday and the mood "traveling". If you can, include a link to the song so others can hear too!

"Traveling" made me think of this song, はるのとなり, which I loved when I watched Yuru Camp. One clear objective in learning Japanese was "I want to reach a level where I can read this by myself."

「ただいま」
ゆっくりおやすみ
少し寂しくて暖かい
旅の終わり
"I'm home"
Sleep well
a bit sad, and hot, my trip is over.

I decided to restrict myself to bands I've seen live in Fredericton NB. Because it's a place more people travel from than to.

@ami_angelwings #MoodMusicMonday: traveling. I hate to be overly literal, but the classic:

I'm still not sure what the song means, but it's catchy as hell, and the music video is incredibly colorful and full of 1990s CGI.

@ami_angelwings I'm going to have to go ahead and serve up Florence + The Machine's cover of Stand By Me.

As the theme song of Final Fantasy XV it pulls double duty by being played twice in the game. At the start it sets the initial theme of a road trip with the boys, just out there doing their thing. When it plays again over the end credits after everything that has happened, it has become a slightly more melancholic and wistful, but still positive and hopeful, punctuation to a very long, very hard journey.

@ami_angelwings It's kind of cheating, but Sonic music as a genre is very much so this in my opinion. So much of the series deals with moving forward along a more-or-less straight path and overcoming obstacles along the way, such that the music that pairs well with that theme tends to nail a very particular vibe of forward movement.
@xgranade share some examples!

@ami_angelwings Picking a few from across the series, trying to show breadth rather than a "best of" list:

Starlight Zone (Sonic 1)
Sonic Boom (Sonic CD / US ver)
Escape from the City (SA2)
Crisis City (2006)
Ephemeral (Sonic Frontiers)

Somehow, that forward motion vibe persists across chiptunes, 90s rock, something almost trip-hop-ish, and whatever the hell 2006 was on.

@ami_angelwings The Sonic DJ Style Party remix album from a few years ago does a really good job, I think, of highlighting those vibes from across the series, but it's also highly remixed and not exactly indicative of how the music appears in the games directly. The remixes nail the vibe, but aren't faithful in a literal sense.

@ami_angelwings I have no idea why that second post keeps linking to Ephemeral, sorry.

I think this link *should* work for the remix album?

@ami_angelwings When my friend overpaid way too much to get himself a nice car we put together a playlist called " songs to crash your car to" of songs about driving fast or that have serve a stereotypical feel of songs that you would drop the hammer to and do something stupid in your new car.

@ami_angelwings Hate travelling and only really know this because of James Robertson's Transformers comic, but it captures the mix of excitement and disappointment. (It's also about sailing, which kicks drivings ass)
