The answer is *not*: Keep Android open.

Do not give in to the Stockholm syndrome.

Google controls Android. Google wants full control. Move totally away from Android and Google, and break free.

Move towards mobile Linux on your phone (and other devices).

@janvlug a similar thing like wine for android to linux will probably be the way to go.

A: Waydroid

@lil5 Although I highly appreciate the #Waydroid work, my preference is native Linux apps, or PWA's.

I think that emulators will always lag behind. I'm not looking for emulating a platform that I want to evade on my free devices.

@janvlug @lil5 I would take native myself.

I’ve tried making a PWA of an app I made for #iOS , mostly through vanilla JavaScript and or Typescript, with the latter used to solve complications of straight JavaScript, and things just get annoying.

Hopefully, Swift Cross UI and other things will improve and make them less necessary.

@lil5 @janvlug I don’t think Waydroid is anything like wine sadly. ☹️

I have not played around with it, but from what I’ve seen, it’s pretty much closer to a VM, while wine mostly translates stuff.

There is also ATL (Android Translation Layer). I do not know how mature and active this is:
