Your data must be yours - not scanned, not used by AI.

That's why Tuta is end-to-end encrypted & private by design.

@Tutanota New slogan ”Your data will not collect by Tuta.”
@mitosu_me That's a good one! 😊
@Tutanota And yet another reason why I've been a happy customer for years.
@Tutanota tuta drive when
@Niechec @Tutanota Their website states tuta drive will launch publicly in a few months.
@Tutanota Grummz is perhaps not the best person to choose an excerpt from to market/advertise with. You should take a look at his post history.
@distractal Hi there. Thank you for letting us know, we were not aware of this and have now removed it.
@Tutanota Valid point, but please don't share posts by Grummz from the Nazi bar. Grummz is a regressive gamergate asshole who should be shunned from society. I'm sure other people have made this same point and aren't problematic.

@Tutanota Please stop this. #Tuta[nota] has no Drive option today.

Your homepage tells us:

»Tuta Drive is currently in closed beta and will be available to the public in a few months.« (translated by DeepL)

@dnkrupinski Please stop what? What, exactly, are they doing wrong? They don't use AI and don't scan your data.

And I have been testing their Drive offering for more than a week and it's going to be a great service.

@Tutanota

@cmccullough @Tutanota

You can't switch from Google Drive to Tuta[nota] because there is no Drive option **now** as stated above!

Have a nice day!

@dnkrupinski You are correct that Drive isn't available to the general public right now but it's not far off.

@Tutanota

@cmccullough @Tutanota

The website tells us:

»Tuta Drive is currently in closed beta and will be available to the public in a __few__ months.«

[few] is not defined!

@dnkrupinski @cmccullough @Tutanota just self host ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯
@miked @cmccullough @Tutanota That's not the point here.
@dnkrupinski True, but I think you've also missed the point being made by Tuta.

 @miked @Tutanota

@cmccullough @miked @Tutanota

I think you missed my point here:

On https://di.day you **don't** offer things as an alternative if they can't be used to switch to.

Tuta[nota] **is** an alternative for eMail (Goggle Mail, Outlook.com etc) or calendar but it's not an alternative for Google Drive – maybe tomorrow, in a few day, in a few weeks or in a few months – but not today.

And that's all I am criticizing here.

Home — Digital Independence Day

On the first Sunday of each month we organise Digital Independence Day. This is when we reclaim our digital freedom and switch to democracy-friendly digital alternatives.

@Tutanota this is a horrendous way to advertise your product and as a paying customer I'm extremely disappointed. Grummz is notorious for his horrendous opinions and the "artist" he's referring to draws CSAM
@booting0705 Hi there. Thank you for letting us know, we were not aware of this and have now removed it.
@Tutanota @booting0705 Mark Kern "Grummz" was a software engineer working at World of Warcraft. Having bad opinions isn't necessarily a moral failure.
I don't know the artist he is referring to, but "CSAM artwork" is a heavy accusation to make. Are we talking about anime styled explicit artwork that still complies with the laws of whatever East Asian country they're from?
@scuti @Tutanota its legality in another part of the world of something does not make it morally acceptable and your willingness to defend that kind of material is telling of your character
@booting0705 @Tutanota There is an entire race of people that compared with Europeans, have shorter stature, rounder faces, smaller noses, different cheeks, and more "neotenous" features even as adults which their artists are trained on and you want to argue the age of a fictional character?
@booting0705 @Tutanota Even as I already replied to your post once, it doesn't sit right with me on how quickly you tried to make the conversation about morality and character, completely ignoring the point about classification or category errors that AI can make.
I shouldn't expect an good faith response afterwards. I don't believe every accusations of CSAM because it easily lumps in "big headed, big eyed character in [adult cartoon]" just like in the article I linked.
@scuti My partner is from China and she is often mistaken for a child... She's an adult.
@booting0705 @Tutanota Please do not equate fiction or fantasy to CSAM. It is not only inflammatory, but also damaging to real victims of Childhood Sexual Abuse and Trafficking, and to people as a whole. The desire for moral control and the protection of children are entirely separate.
@Tutanota Can't wait to use Tuta Drive. I made the switch to Tuta last month and have no regrets.

@Khwarezm

@Tutanota

From my experience you also won't have them in the future ✌️

@dexternemrod @Tutanota

Interesting, and why is that?

@Khwarezm

@Tutanota

I'm a customer for several years, never had issues / unavailability and the customer service is awesome.
So in the end: A service that runs, and the people behind it are the shiny sparkles that make it so woderful!

@dexternemrod @Tutanota

Oh nvm I misunderstood. Thought you're saying won't have them as Tuta not regrets 😅

But yeah, so far things work great for both my wife and me.

@Khwarezm

@Tutanota

Good we talked about it 😉

@Khwarezm

@Tutanota

Oh and one thing. In my opinion the most underrated feature: On Android (skip if you run iOS) the Tuta contacts completely integrate into Android. So you can store and sync your contacts with Tuta, instead of Google, and use them for calls or contact discovery of you messengers. (Needs to be enabled in the Tuta settings if I remember correctly).

@dexternemrod @Tutanota

That's a great feature indeed. I'm currently on iOS but planning to switch to a degoogled device in the future (Volla Phone or Fairphone with /e/ os)

@Khwarezm @dexternemrod @Tutanota

Volla and Fairphone dont have good privacy and security. E/os doesnt do a good job at protecting your data. If privacy and security is your goal.

iPhone does do a pretty good job, enable advanced data protection, have a strong password, remove permissions u dont need and enabling lockdown mode is also an option.

For Android, Google Pixel phone with grapheneOS is your best bet for privacy and security.
Open source and are also on mastodon:)

@GrapheneOS

@flotmjor938382

@Khwarezm

I don't trust in Apples privacy stories and the locked down ecosystem is also a nightmare.
GrapheneOS is the Gold standard but already LineageOS gives you a big advantage.
Where do your claims about Fairphone, Volla and e/os come from (this is a honest question)?

@dexternemrod @Khwarezm

I agree that the locked down ecosystem is an nightmare.
Funny enough, thats one reason that its secure. People cant download crap.

I dont pretend to be an expert, so i apologise if i came off as arrogant.

As per the last question, i will try my best to send over some verifiable Information about Volla, Fairphone and E/os tommorow. Involving their lack of security and privacy.
If @GrapheneOS doesnt do it. They often talk about it.

@dexternemrod @flotmjor938382 @Khwarezm Volla, Fairphone and /e/ don't provide bare minimum standard privacy and security patches or protections. Updates to the Linux kernel are barely provided and are cut off very prematurely. Fairphone 5 and earlier are on end-of-life kernels and not moving on from them as Pixels and other better maintained Android devices do. Fairphone 6 will have an end-of-life kernel soon. Patches to the userspace are months late and firmware/driver/HAL patches far more.
@dexternemrod @flotmjor938382 @Khwarezm GrapheneOS goes in the opposite direction from the Android Open Source Project where it preserves the standard updates and security features while adding major privacy and security improvements. Nearly everything else in the space including LineageOS go in the other direction. You should look at https://eylenburg.github.io/android_comparison.htm for a decent overview, although the update information at the bottom is based on the best case for the best supported devices, not average.

@dexternemrod @flotmjor938382 @Khwarezm For more information see https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/24134-devices-lacking-standard-privacysecurity-patches-and-protections-arent-private and the linked third party content from Divested Computing and Mike Kuketz.

/e/ and Murena have repeatedly claimed strong privacy and security mainly benefits criminals. They aligned themselves with the authoritarian crackdown on encryption and secure devices in France. Their products make people worse off and they clearly don't share the values or goals of actual privacy projects.

@GrapheneOS

@flotmjor938382 @Khwarezm

Well ... finaly something to read on my trio back from the holidays. 😉 Thanks for this input and explanations, will dig into this!

@dexternemrod @Khwarezm Hi there! Thank you for your kind words, we really appreciate it😍

@Tutanota

Solid work! One feature i am missing that is realistic is... an optional two password log in. One for logging in per say, and one for decrypting the emails. May benefit in regards to security.

If that didnt make much sense proton has that feature.

Blocking known email trackers would be an great implementation too!

Good work regardless, when your team keeps expanding im sure dark net monitoring will be an option in the future;)

With Kind regard happy paying customer:)

@flotmjor938382 Hi there! Thanks you for your nice feedback and your suggestions. We will discuss these with our team😊
@Tutanota Glad you took action on removing the problematic person from your post. Unlike Framework, you actually care.
