The texlive installation solved the dependency issue by forcing a new install from scratch every year. That means I have to update the binaries and the TeX install in my iOS terminal app (a-Shell) every year. With other 3000 packages, it's a good way to check for bugs in the system.

@androw Yeah, I'm not trying to use a TeX distribution, I'm trying to make a TeX distribution.
