Mormonism was not among the religions that lost official recognition by the Defense Department on Friday. But the new list of recognized faiths includes a category for Christian denominations, and Mormonism was placed outside that category
Michael Gemar@jalefkowit Evangelical Protestants have a long history of viewing the LDS church as non-Christian (along with the Jehovah’s Witnesses and various other sects). Of course, many evangelicals also believe the Catholic Church is literally demonic.
