What good tech news do you have to share that doesn't involve nor mention AI in any ways?

#Tech #Hope #NoAI

@Em0nM4stodon

1- godot game engine can now be used to create and compile games entirely from android.

2- microsoft backpedaled a lot of its more extreme ideas for windows 11. For now.

3- california bill to prevent companies from killing games passed assembly

4- Linux is at a stage, verifiably, where the only thing you can literally do everything windows can do either with wine, proton, or a vm.
The ONLY thing you cant safely do is kernel anticheat on modern games.
Thats huge imo.

@chaoddity I think Valve is working on anticheat for Linux

@Savagejen Easy Anticheat works on linux. Arc raiders and Dead by daylight, and lots of modern games work on linux.

Games that I play that do NOT work on linux at all:
Rust, Battlefield, Apex Legends (Apex used to run on linux but after an embarrassing fiasco involving a botched update that broke linux clients they decided to blame linux for all their cheating as a lazy excuse/pretense for dropping linux support altogether)

Modern Kernel-level anticheat often doesnt play nice with linux.

@chaoddity I would also really like my Epic games to run on Linux. Rocket League for example.

@Savagejen Epic works fine on Linux.
You can install epic easily via Lutris and use proton experimental to run rocket league.

Rocket league works great on it. Most people recommend GE (glorious eggroll) proton

Rocket League devs promise not to break Linux support or ban mod users when Easy Anti-Cheat gets added

Easy Anti-Cheat is being added to Rocket League this April, but Linux players (including Steam Deck owners) will still be able to play.
