Robin Davies@neil 100% this! We only have a VDSL line and still come nowhere close to really saturating it. @g7vkq I like FTTC - for stability, if nothing else - but we do not come close to using maxxing out our 500/500 line.
@neil our AA line barely has any issues…the last 30 days it’s been 100% available, and I can’t even remember the last time we had a line blip😳

@neil yes - I can understand VDSL lines potentially have more issues and stability can easily erode. Don’t get me wrong, I’d probably get an FTTC line - if only to reduce my own radio interference…but from a broadband perspective I honestly doubt anyone in the house would even notice!
Dragon@g7vkq @neil there are a few times where I'd like more upload but it's usually when restoring a backup to my off-site box or throwing around large VMs.
Its really only for commercial reasons that sub 1Gbit packages exist on FTTP
If it's an altnet that own their network I suspect they could turn around and decide everyone gets at least a gigabit and it probably wouldn't do that much to their cost of providing service as I suspect the usage profile wouldn't actually change that much
