@passocacornio I hate eSIMs unless I can install them on a physical card to restore my freedomvto choose whatever device I want to use them.

  • Fortunately there are both tools ( miniLPA ) and matching eSIMs ( 9eSIM ) to do that…

So you get the asvantages of eSIMs (free, instant delivery) and the advantages of SIM cards (Plug & Play on any GSM device) together without either disadvantages (being locked to specific hardware / delivery costs)…

@Netzblockierer the problem is that... as soon as esim becomes popular enough, those tools you mentioned will become useless because smartphones will lose the ability to have a simcard

@passocacornio yes and one can already see that, with Smartphones advertising as "Dual-SIM" when they have only a single Nano-SIM and an eSIM option, but nit real DUAL-SIM…

  • Kinda how every garbage platform claims to do "End-to-End Encryption" but doesn't allow Self-Custody of all the keys.

The main advantage is that one doesn't need a dr0p to get an eSIM, which simplifies things…

@passocacornio @Netzblockierer yeah, I've seen that with #Fairphone having downgraded every device after the #FP3 & #FP3plus by omnitting #DualSIM - functionality…

And that sucks ass!

Fairphone should've merely added an eSIM in Nano-SIM - form factor into the box so people keep the freedom to choose!

Apple already does SIM-less iPhones and were it not for the fact that CDMA is nonexistant outside the USA, they would've never had any SIMs to begin with!
