tip: to stop #gif #animation overall in #firefox / #librewolf, one needs to use about:config.

the setting is image.animation_mode none (or once)

there are no controls on the page, that would require an add-on.

but at least the setting stops the loop and makes some pages viewable without using something like ublock

(I'd like the *option* to see it once; blocking it will do. but even when opening only the gif, it won't show the animation. oh well. I'll miss some minor parts of some explanations then)

is this a mostly #neurodivergent thing? can most users simply read pages with incessant animation on them? because I can't.

and the offhand way in which the simple option to stop it is not offered smacks of "I can't see the problem" or "this only affects a few, so it doesn't matter".

@quincy It could be an ND thing; I have the same problem as you.

@KatS @quincy

I totally can’t, either.
