@inarticulatequilter What do you like best about this one? :0
@swordjaw amazing, isn't it? My favorite part is the technique he used to get that kaleidoscope effect. I think Ben invented that - never seen anything like it before - so I called Millett improvisation
@inarticulatequilter Yesssss. I could look at it for a while. It's almost like it's being refracted through a lens while I watch.
@swordjaw if you are bridged to Bluesky, he has an account there - he does a lot of great quilts
@inarticulatequilter I really enjoyed reading the walkthrough in the article. Just fantastic.
@PapyrusBrigade Aurifil’s blog is a good follow, if you’re interested in this kind of stuff. Of course they are trying to sell thread, but their designers are pretty creative

@inarticulatequilter Terrific work and article and link back to Pride flag artist/s. But as a quilter/former quilter/former quilt teacher I was thrilled to read the design development process. From such a classic quilt block as Snowball, improv, woo-hoo! The steps he made along the making of it I can envision well. Such a long way from where I began as a child with patchwork, and as a teacher in demand for the US Bicentennial.

Still I note male quilters sure are quite willing to fetch publicity and profit, but so innovative. Not ā€œmore innovativeā€ but differently. Not this man but a tangent here. Remember Michael James?

Btw, wonder if us Mastodon types will ever get @ai6yr into quilting. He’s still getting the hang of sewing machines and a serger so it’s just a matter of time.

Also, every link from that link you share leads to a great place. Thank you so very much.

@cobalt123 I’m glad you enjoyed the article. I really loved what Millett did with the the improv snowball block too, and how well he explained it, even adapting the technique to a quilt of my own

Had not heard of Michael James but a quick search shows he sure loves a stripe!

Strong believer that everyone should take up quilting - @ai6yr would definitely be welcome to the fold

@ai6yr @inarticulatequilter @cobalt123 Why am I imagining an ai6yr Ben quilt made of damaged zippers and unused scraps of t-shirts?
@LPerry2 @ai6yr @inarticulatequilter Oooh, and I’m sure he’ll combine all the knits with cotton duck and corduroy in a piecemeal but exhuberant design, so colorful! And utterly unquiltable. And heavy too! But the size will be right and the initial uses most practical. And he spent $1 in total on materials from an estate sale.
