Hello Houston! The all-volunteer Space City Marshals (SCM) has a fundraising goal of $2,500 this summer. Their plan? To kit out 5 of their volunteer members with protective, utility gear at $500 per safety marshal. Houston's SCM volunteers are trained in de-escalation and work hard to keep activists and organizers safe during Houston-area protests, rallies, and demonstrations. When police turn up, Space City Marshals interface with them so community organizers don't have to. SCM has worked with and/or supported local actions by 50501, Immigrating Youth Texas (IYT), Visibility Brigade, Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), HTX Street Medic Teams, Communities at Work (CAW), Women's March, Indivisible, Fenceline Watch, and Texas Campaign for the Environment. They're an invaluable part of the activism community across #HTX and we hope they can count on your support. Every $ helps.
