This weekend I am helping to organise, and probably playing in, the Tasmanian Open Chess Championship in Devonport.
It's only a small field, about 20 players, but it is strong with six of the top ten ranked Tasmanians playing.
I scored 2/2 on day 1, both tough games. Tomorrow there are three games which should sort out the field.
Yesterday was exhausting. I left my house about 7am, and didn't get home until nearly 11pm. I did manage two wins and a draw, though, and I'm clear first going into the last round this morning.
Back home now, at last!
I won my final game to become Tasmanian Open Chess Champion 2026.
I then ran a junior tournament after with about 25 local kids showing up to play.
I'm very satisfied, but extremely tired.
Thanks everyone 🙂
I have to sleep...
The results will be on the Australian chess bulletin board, Chesschat:
