European institutions switch the social media icons on their websites to Fediverse not US controlled social media with toxic algorithms

It's time for all European institutions to stop promoting toxic US controlled social media and remove those icons from all official EU websites

@xodus_online Mingy number of votes! Get in there, lads!

@sinabhfuil

Horrendously complicated to try to vote for this. After several unsuccessful attempts, I managed to get the EU login app working. Then I (apparently) had to create a "citizen engagement" account.

Then I couldn't see any way to vote, only comment (which I didn't want to do).

There were three icons: thumb up, another I couldn't work out, and a thumb down. I clicked on the thumb up. Is that a vote?

All round, a pretty frustrating experience. No wonder there are so few votes.

@xodus_online

@ratcatcher i was able to just click the link & click the thumbs up, no logins or extra apps needed. then it gave a little pop-up thanking me for voting.

@tae_glas

Really? And after all my messing around, I didn't even get the popup (though that may be down to my browser settings).

I still think there should be a "vote" or "support this" button to make it clearer.

Edit: Maybe I misunderstood what this is. I thought it was a petition so expected to have to sign in or authenticate in some way to vote for it.

@ratcatcher that's fair, the OP does say to please login!

& i agree, it'd be handy for the emojis to also come with text like "vote for / against / abstain", to distinguish it from a more casual social media "likes / thumbs up" feature.

@ratcatcher @xodus_online I think I signed up and then used the email link to go in and send the emails. A kludge, ni question
