Person with a hard hat (a worker presumably) is standing in one “side” of the “room” which makes the graph look to them like the red line is on a downward trajectory.
The second person (fat cat in a suit is the best way to describe them) , presumably wealthy businessmen is on the adjacent side so that the graph appears to be in an upward trajectory from their perspective.
