Watching Hungary's new govt busily undo literally everything Orban did should make you realize how much of a fucking piece of shit President Joe Biden was.

@johnzajac Go say this on Bluesky and watch the Blue Anon crew descend on you like Hitchcock's "The Birds."

It's amazing how many still defend a man who was a terrible president, and will not even be remembered by history. The Trump era will be seen as an uninterrupted period from 2015-2029 (or longer), and schoolchildren will be amazed to be told, 50 years from now, that there was another president during the Trump period.

The Dem. party is a party of collaborators, not an actual opposition.

@johnzajac I feel the same way. What an utter disappointment. I wrote this at the end of his term: https://humancode.us/2025/01/20/biden-didnt-even-try
Biden: the Absent President who didn’t even try

As we wrap up Biden’s tenure, I can’t help but be utterly disappointed that he had powerful tools at his disposal, and used almost none of it to prevent the ascent of Fascism.

@johnzajac reality check from Hungary, busy indeed, but will it work and to what extent, a different question. Some of those things are really entrenched. This is only the planning phase, with high hopes. Let's see. (And, well, not literally everything. There is some intersection)

@robinp

Yeah I know the new govt is Euro-centric center right, so not *literally* literally.

Still, they're doing more than Biden to shut that shit down, so ...

@johnzajac @robinp also, they have a supermajority, which makes a lot easier to just go do stuff

@deach @robinp

Like Obama did in 2009?

I forget - how many votes does it take to end the filibuster?

How many times have Dems filibustered successfully over the last 18 months?

🤔 🤷‍♂️

@johnzajac this hurts because it's true and I need to hear it
