I love #gnome, but way did they remove the logout button in #gnome50, wenn only one wm and one user is installed. Thats really annoying, because sometimes you just have to logout.
@inlovewithpda
I cannot answer the question why the button was removed. I did not even notice it because I do it differently:
hit SUPER key,
type 'log',
hit ENTER.
And there you go! It's easier and faster than frickeling around with the mouse.
F2 and 'gnome-session-quit' also works but needs more typing, of course.
@inlovewithpda it's really a 10+ years old change; people only noticed because they don't get an X11 session any more…
@ebassi OK, but really annoying. I just installed sway to have the button back

@inlovewithpda to be honest, any workflow that requires a log out is immediately suspect to me; some are necessary, like installing extensions, and those should be part of the extension management apps. Every other scenario I've seen reported is basically either a bug, or a workaround for a bug.

You can put the logout button back using gsettings:

gsettings set org.gnome.shell always-show-log-out true

@ebassi otherwise gnome 50 is really a burner. Great relase!
