This is a reminder to people. A number of experts are very blunt that we are headed for a good deal of trouble in July because US oil reserves will be tapped out.

Asia is already suffering greatly from the loss of oil. Europe isn’t in good shape either. China is better situated because of the size of their reserves and they can ride for I think another year.

If you haven’t yet stocked up on a pantry do so to the best of your ability. consider pooling resources with people you know to stock up.

The other thing I would like to recommend, is if you know or have a plot that you can cultivate, consider growing, at least some kind of food. Fresh veggies that don’t take a lot of space will be nice to have. And nice to share.

Asia and Australia in particular or being clobbered by the war on Iran. Apparently the latter had only 20 days of oil reserve in like a lot of countries in Asia shut down their refineries, making their lives even worse. China seems to be the one outlier.

Farmer is in Australia, are facing triple crisis: climate, fertilizer, and diesel fuel.

The last one in particular is devastating because no machine, machinery no farming

Also if you can add a couple of things for people who can't afford to buy extra now.

@GhostOnTheHalfShell

Fully agree. We are in for some rough times, and prepping may be one of the most helpful things for our mental health - giving us a feeling of control amidst the turbulence - we can do.

Beans (ideally dried, but canned work too) and rice go a long way to reduce food uncertainty and insecurity.

Relatedly, I've found https://www.liveliketheworldisdying.com to be a great, empowering resource about building community and the things we can do, collectively, to weather The ongoing collapse.

Yeah, he probably seen me advocate 5 or 10 kg bags of rice and beans. You can buy many months worth of food for around $40 US. And you can survive a long time on that combo.

My only recommendation to people is to remember not to buy brown rice because the oil in the bran can go rancid. You don’t want it for long-term storage.

@GhostOnTheHalfShell In Canada, this year have assembled about 3 months of food/water, got solar and battery systems, ways to wash clothes without power, etc. Every spare dime I put into either donations to support good infotech or something useful just in case the world blows up. I never thought I'd be doing this. Even being a socialist since childhood and therefore basically believing capitalism would fall apart, it could not NOT fall apart, but damn I still have to check I'm not hallucinating sometimes.
