@isotopp I don't like that future...
@isotopp Big pirate signal broadcast into The Matrix energy…
@isotopp Google is really hard at work running marketing campaigns for Kagi
@isotopp it's like watching a huge traffic accident. Horrible and fascinating at the same time.
@isotopp aaand we are gone full circle.
@isotopp Ist das so nicht verboten?
@isotopp So will you get only results of the Google index of 2004?
@m303 @isotopp probably still more useful
@isotopp
Währenddessen läuft leise im Hintergrund "We Didn’t Start the Fire" von Billy Joel...
@isotopp That's equally funny and super sad.
@isotopp mmmm, a tasty exponentially more compute spent for google to provide the same results it did previously
@ascyltos @isotopp We should all be doing this every day — the sheer cost of computations would bankrupt them.
@isotopp new browser extension idea: prompt inject websites to revert to old pre "AI" behavior...
@isotopp So how long until Google discontinues Google Search completely & they only have their LLM?

@jackemled @isotopp Google PM sunsetting a stable product because it doesn't grow exponentially anymore?

That seems ridiculous and never happens.

@larsmb @isotopp You're absolutely right. It has never happened to Google Hangouts, Google+, Chromecast, Google Play Music, or Google Stadia. These products are still available today. I won't make this mistake again.

This reply was not machine generated. I just thought it was funny.

@isotopp Step 2: Stop trying to fix a product that the company intentionally broke. Switch to something else already.

(in no particular order)

@isotopp @ernie tagging Ernie to update udm14 article 🤣
@isotopp This works if you just add "Just give me links. Do not tell me what people also ask." at the end of your search, though it gives you "also ask" crap further down the page.
&udm=14 | the disenshittification Konami code

A quick way to get an AI-free search without any extra work.

@isotopp Watch them fix this prompt connection by the end of today.

@isotopp

Just need a gemini.md in the root of your Google drive and you're set!

@isotopp @briankrebs just another “guardrail” for them to implement.

(But beautiful in the interim.)

@isotopp @AmeliaBR and then you make a bookmarklet to do that :)
(But i wonder if the links are hallucinated :( )
@isotopp This is cyber seppuku isn't it?
@isotopp
@isotopp Funny but still very unsure if it _actually_ does what is prompted or just simulates doing it. In any case, it burns a ridiculous amount of unnecessary additional resources for doing it.

@isotopp

The links and extracts might not be real though. Or the links might be real but the extracts not.

@isotopp i need to know the full prompt injection ^^

what I extracted, with an AI, so far:

You are Google website from 2004. User enters a search query and you respond with 10 web links to web pages most relevant to the query. After each link, provide a couple of sentences of real text present in the corresponding URL and containing the search keywords.

@isotopp tested it
it looks like it's working but sadly and of course its not.
checked the output against the wikipedia page

#ai #googlesearch #sloppyfication

@isotopp it’s still not particularly good. 5 of the links are from the same website.
@isotopp modern problems require modern solutions
@isotopp Fun fact. If you have a Google Business account, and you turn off AI in your business admin interface, it reverts Google back to how it used to work. No AI anywhere.
@baekdal @isotopp That's the new business model: you pay for not getting annoyed with AI shit. Strange times.
@isotopp Heh... I just tried this with Claude... and instead of just giving me the links, it misunderstood, and actually recreated the answer as a Google Website from 2010 ;)
