The air in Europe is improving. Data proves it.

Since 2005, EU laws have driven down all major regulated pollutants:

- Sulphur dioxide (SO₂): −85%
- Nitrogen oxides (NOₓ): −53%
- Fine particles (PM2.5): −38%
- Non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOCs): −35%
- Ammonia (NH₃): −17%

We are delivering real results for all Europeans, science-backed and policy-driven.

@EUCommission That’s great, I really mean it. Unfortunately in the Netherlands your neighbours can burn wood to cut heating costs and now every winter I sometimes cannot step out of my house because the smoke is choking me. I had to close every ventilation intake. The smoke concentration is very localised, so it hardly ever shows up on the big map. It’s a big problem in many towns all the same.
