@uselessfactsbadlydrawn GIMME (I literally am an oil painter)
@uselessfactsbadlydrawn i mean, they would do a lot of other paintings along with that one exceptional one to try things out. but yeah.

@uselessfactsbadlydrawn

i'm afraid, that's not exactly how it works😆

@uselessfactsbadlydrawn @davep

Except those classical painters and sculptors were paid poorly for submissions as well at their time.

@uselessfactsbadlydrawn

Yes, but also, painting is easier when there's an undo command, rearrangeable layers, non-destructive transformations, and you can make infinite copies.

@uselessfactsbadlydrawn I know the Greeks with their famous sculpture (and excellent but lost-to-history paintings) didn't treat artists too well, there was a contemporary saying along the lines of 'we elevate the sculpture but despise the sculptor'.

Even though I totally agree with the sentiment, let's leave fetishising the pre-democratic past to the fascists, we've always treated artists like garbage and that needs to change.

@uselessfactsbadlydrawn There's this Italian guy Jago who does exactly that.

@uselessfactsbadlydrawn man I wish I was rich enough to do this

I would just casually knock on the door of my artist in the afternoon

Frederick!? Any new art?
Yes my leige, I have drawn more macro furry art, this time of a panda hugging the moon
Wonderful!

@uselessfactsbadlydrawn I hope to someday be well off enough financially to fund an artist full time.
