I don’t suppose they make a dumb TV that has an HDMI arc port do they? Ideally I would just like to hook my Apple TV to something like that. Barring that, I think our next purchase is going to be an LG TV. I’ve seen videos of their Accessibility features. Is accessibility available on any model we would choose as long as it’s fairly new?
@technocounselor I love my LG TV. The accessibility is very good both in terms of speech and for my purposes, high contrast text. I’ve also gotten around the smart features by not signing any of the user agreements for the smart features . I just plugged the Apple TV in and moved on. You won’t be able to use AirPlay directly with the TV itself but you can through Apple TV.
@technocounselor I don’t believe it matters what model you choose. There seem to be three quality bands with LG. I picked a low end one from Costco.
@Shelly Thank you. This is really helpful.
@technocounselor Pretty sure you figured this out, but “quality" refers to screen quality/resolution, so it seemed safe to me to buy one of the cheaper models, since screen things matter little to me.
@Shelly Same. There’s a 65 inch one on sale for 329. I think we’re going to go for it. It will make the cited people happy when they come over to watch TV, but it won’t break the bank. :-)
