ok so

my bank card expires at the end of next month. i can't get sent a new one because i can't give my UK bank account my new address because since brexit they are not allowed to operate in the EU, so if they knew i was living here they would close the account. and when i don't activate the new card they are sending to my old address they are probably going to start to wonder if my address is right and investigate and maybe end up closing it anyway.

which would be fine, except Aurin also hasn't been able to use kis bank account for a while since kis german bank account wants a finnish tax code since ki updated kis address and told them ki lives in finland.

getting a finnish tax code means getting a finnish ID code, something we have been trying to figure out how to do since we got here (not helped by everyone going 'just walk into the DVV'!)

yeah, the nearest DVV office is over 100km away and there is ZERO public transport for getting there. but it will take 3-4 weeks to get an ID code issued so that Aurin can get a finnish bank account (or access to kis german one), so we need to get on that right freaking now tbh, have left it too long and it is going to cause problems cause we might not have access to ANY bank account soon.

unfortunately since it's over 100km away with no public transport, it's going to cost well over €200 each way to taxi, plus ki will need money on kis phone so we can stay in touch and ki can order taxis and doesn't get stranded without a way to contact anyone, plus food on the trip, etc

basically we'll need €600 to be on the safe side cause this is NOT the kind of thing we wanna be caught short on

and that's on top of our normal monthly fundraising for food and rent and bills (€1600 total but we are trying weekly fundraisers this month...)

BUT once this is all sorted and Aurin has a finnish ID code it will make a LOT of things a LOT easier in future! (including possibly being able to get on benefits while we've still not got a livable income yet)

EDIT: ki has an appointment booked for Wednesday so if we could get to €600 by then that would be most excellent, thank you

@DionTheBlackDragon
I booked an appointment for Wednesday, which was the earliest day available. And I am still scared they won't give me a finnish ID code because I have no work contract or any kind of proof or paperwork for freelance work (or enough income to live off, I made 75€ so far, total) and I am so SCARED 😭

And no, we can't get on benefits for a while after moving, they don't want ppl to come here to get on benefits and the interval was recently upped (I forgot how long it is, but basically there's a period of time between moving here and being allowed to apply for benefits. And idk if that is counted from actually arriving here or from registering - they assume you register immedialtely lmao not almost two years later... oops...)

And yeah I did not think this would be so hard bc this is within the EU and schengen, but schengen is bullshit apparently, it does NOT mean that ppl are free to move around and live where they want within that area... I hate how much politicians lie.

Oh yeah all this is ABLEISM btw. They don't want disabled ppl to be able to get away because no one wants to risk us being a "drain" on them. But neither of us could have SURVIVED without fleeing our countries so yeah.

basically, abolish borders.
