if you think #AI "the greatest thing ever", you were never a good programmer

you never actually had the talent to do it

you were at best a non-coding architect, and now you have AI writing code for you

and once you use AI, you won't be able to build any new features yourself, the only way forward is $pending more on AI

real engineers test, break, reject, and slowly integrate what works, because we’ve seen enough real systems fail… experience

good: a tool
bad: replacement for understanding

@ghostwriter @jrf_nl If you think #circularsaw “the greatest thing ever”, you were never a good carpenter

you never actually had the talent to saw

you were at best a non-sawing carpenter, and now you have the circular saw sawing for you

and once you use the circular saw, you won’t be able to build any new features without electricity, the only way forward is spending $electricity more on saw

real carpenters saw, hammer, screw and slowly work, because we’ve seen enough real chairs collapse

@atimmer @jrf_nl

a circular saw doesn’t replace craftsmanship, it changes where the skill shows up.

Without experience: thinking + learning (judgment is weak or borrowed)

With experience: thinking + judgment + direction

With AI: thinking + amplified output, but judgment and direction still depend on experience
