I did it! I did it! I did it!

I picked up our weekly grocery order on my bike.

The trailer attachment didn't fit (will need a teensy mod that I didn't have time for this morning) so backpack, cargo rack, and two panniers! But I fugging did it.

@MsHearthWitch I'm so happy for you!!!
@stephanie Every time I get back from an errand on my bike I have such a high

@MsHearthWitch

Great feeling!
My trick is to go more than once a week.
Fresher fruit and veg that way, too.

I have a saddlebag type pair of bike bags that are slung over the luggage rack, and I made canvas shopping bags that fit in them exactly so all I have to do is drop them in, unlock the bike, and ride home.

@CelloMomOnCars Nice! Yeah if I'm not able to get the trailer situation sorted then twice a week trips are gonna be the thing.

My saddle bags detach easily and aren;t that hard to put on so I can just use them like regular grocery bags. Was one of the draws for me about that style.

@MsHearthWitch @CelloMomOnCars

I love shopping on my bike.

Do pay attention to the weight limits on your rack, I overloaded mine and pulled a bolt through a metal piece in a way that can't be fixed so I have that point lashed together with a bevy of zip ties (this photo is old there are 4 on there now because the zip ties break).

@MCDuncanLab @CelloMomOnCars Yeah my cargo rack is rated for 175lbs! So I think I'm alright. (I double checked the manual just to be sure)

@MsHearthWitch @CelloMomOnCars

Mine was only rated for 44lbs 😭

@MCDuncanLab @CelloMomOnCars The non-cargo rack version for mine is only like 30lbs I think? Or thereabouts.

But as I specifically got the bike for things like grocery shopping and carrying my plein air art supplies around I made a point to go for the cargo options!

@MsHearthWitch Congrats! Somehow doing the grocery shopping by bike is very satisfying, even when compared with just normal walking for me.
@SRLevine Oh interesting! haha. I am not a person who could walk to the store, shop, and then back. Alas. Which is part of why I wanted the bike even for trips that "most people" would just walk.
