#Eversource recently sent me a letter notifying me that they'd miscalculated the amount they owed me from the #ConnectedSolutions program for last summer and I'd be receiving a second check in a few weeks for the difference.
The check just came and it's for… $8.27. 🤨
Quite a let-down, given that the first check was for $1,047.
(ConnectedSolutions is a #Massachusetts program where people with home storage batteries are paid to let the utility pull power during high demand periods.)

@jik Out of curiosity, what kind of battery capacity do you have? (I looked into adding batteries but with net metering and me having really reliable power they didn't seem worth it, but if there's a reasonable ROI from Eversource for this kind of program I'm definitely inclined to reconsider)

@wordshaper We've got two big Enphase IQ batteries. They can power our house for more than a day if we turn off non-essentials.
Our power has also been quite reliable over the years, but a couple years ago I looked at all the bullshit in the world and decided there was a good chance reliable power wasn't going to be a given moving forward.
I suppose ConnectedSolutions will eventually pay us back the cost of the batteries, but it'll take quite a few years. That wasn't the point for us.

@wordshaper Oh, the two batteries together store about 20 kWh.

@jik Keen, thanks. I suspect I shall pass on batteries unless/until we get time-of-use billing, since I don't have sufficient roof space to have a meaningful amount of solar. Just fingers crossed that power delivery remains consistent and reliable I guess.
