I had been tempted by MacBook Neo when it was released even though my M2 MacBook Air is just fine. Then I thought about how I’d probably miss Touch ID a lot, but I’d say the success rate of that lately is 30% at best. Do fingerprints start to fade after age 50 or something? 🫆

@purplelime I don’t know about fading, but other changes in the skin as we age absolutely affect the success rate on Touch ID.

Karen’s mom (mid-70’s) clung to a Touch ID phone for way too long and it got to the point where it worked maybe 10% of the time.

So glad she uses Face ID now.

@chrisdejabet I noticed that Touch ID was very hit and miss on my iPad mini recently to the point I actually thought it was broken. Then when it started happening on my MacBook I figured it was ME that’s broken 😅 I’m surprised we haven’t got Face ID on the MacBook already, it’s crying out for it!

@purplelime Right?! I thought for sure MacBooks and iMacs would have Face ID at least 5 years ago!
