I have expressed my frustration with the utter contempt the Idaho Legislature and its committees show to Idaho voters on a regular basis dozens (if not hundreds) of times per session. These suggestions don’t go as far as I would like, but they would be a drastic improvement.
I serve on a local government commission. The City of Boise gives plenty of notice of hearings, gives everyone who wants to the opportunity to testify in writing, in-person, or on Zoom, and treats those who attend hearings with the respect they deserve.
The Legislature could learn a lot from local government, but it’s too busy dictating to us about how to do our jobs.
