X.Org Security Advisory: multiple security issues X.Org X server and Xwayland

@nixCraft can't wait for Steam to support Wayland
@rotopenguin @nixCraft It doesn't? I'm running Wayland only since years and Steam does also work. What problems do you have? I can only speak for the flatpak version, maybe it's distro- or package manager specific.

@r3vilo @rotopenguin @nixCraft Seconded, been running Wayland only for a while and Steam has always ran fine.

This is on Nobara and CachyOS, maybe Debian-based distros have an issue?

@philosophicalfish @r3vilo @nixCraft Steam goes by way of Xwayland (quick way to check - run xeyes). It works reasonably for vanilla setups, but it gets a bit weird beyond that. My Steam has terrible pop-up menu input drops on dual-screen, and it can wedge up entirely in some touchscreen/stylus interactions. Xwayland is also the crashiest part of my compositor, and when it goes everything goes.
@rotopenguin @r3vilo @nixCraft Flatpak or native package? Sometimes one works better than the other depending on the system
@philosophicalfish @r3vilo @nixCraft Flatpak. It's not a huge problem (except for the occasional "you're trying to quit Steam? How about if you quit EVERYTHING?"), but the experience could definitely be better. The convenience of being able to shrink Steam's filesystem access to exactly what it needs via flatpak is totally worth it.
